Is Your Competitor Using Business Intelligence Against You?

2890135030 553fbcd893 t photo (business intelligence)They might be.  In fact, according to analyst Boris Evelson of Forrester Research, business intelligence is “front and center of everyone’s agenda.”

Evelson states that the change in economic fortunes has shifted the drivers of business intelligence.   Business intelligence is no longer a nice tool to have, driven by gains in productivity and efficiency; instead business intelligence is on “everyone’s” agenda because enterprises are feeling the pain of competition.Corporations are no longer competing  just on the cost of goods and services.  They are turning to business intelligence to deliver the competitive edge required to reemphasize effectiveness to win market shares and grow their businesses.

As business intelligence emerges from the back office and becomes a front office tool, companies will use business intelligence software to turn more prospects into customers, reduce customer churn, and pay attention to more details.

What companies are adopting business intelligence?  According to the Forrester survey cited by Evelson, nearly 70 percent of companies indicated some level of adoption of business intelligence.  This increased use of business intelligence practices and software is a sign that corporations are seeking to gain the edge over one another with renewed vigor in these difficult economic times.
